Tell The Gap and other clothing stores that you will only buy wool products if the sheep ranchers use humane methods for protecting their flocks:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am an avid shopper at the Gap consortium of stores.  I have recently learned that many sheep farmers who supply wool to companies such as Gap use lethal methods to protect their flocks from predatory animals.  I cannot bear the thought that coyotes or mountain lions or any other creature is being mercilessly murdered so that I can wear a nice pair of Gap slacks.  As such, I will no longer purchase any wool products from Gap, Banana Republic or Old Navy until there is some sort of a certification (similar to that for “dolphin-safe” tuna) that indicates on the clothing labels that the wool was supplied by ranchers who use only humane methods.  I am familiar with several ranchers that have been very successful in using non-lethal protective measures, and I won’t allow my hard-earned money to support any other kind of enterprise.  As a leader in social awareness and progress on many different fronts, I would hope that Gap would embrace humane wool production as soon as possible.  Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,
