I was born in October of 1997 to a couple who loved me very much. I had a very happy kittenhood until I was 6 months old, when my parents decided to move in with relatives so they could save up to buy their own house. Unfortunately, even though I turned on all the charm and cuteness I could muster, the relatives didn't want me around, so my parents took me to The League for Animal Welfare in Amelia, Ohio.
It was kind of scary at first, but the people at the League were so nice to me that I adjusted quickly. I had my own air-conditioned barn with several other kitties to play with, plus a screened in porch where I could lounge about, smelling the fresh air and daring the birds to come closer. The League had me spayed so I wouldn't have kittens, as there are too many kitties already in the world that need loving homes.
After about a month at the League, my new Mom and Dad visited the shelter. They say it was just to "look" (famous last words!) and that they had no intention of taking home a cat, but there I was! I purred and headbutted them, climbed on their shoulders, sat in their laps, and looked longingly at them with my big golden eyes. It took a little doing, but in the end they melted, and I got me a new set of servants, er, I mean parents.
After about a month of being head honcho in my new home, I let my parents know that I wanted a playmate. Mom and Dad spent several weeks searching the shelters in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, looking for just the right friend for me. Finally, back at the League for Animal Welfare, they found Corky.
I am sure that I am human, because I love to eat all kinds of food. Some of my favorite things to eat are bread, corn on the cob, banana, strawberries, cantaloupe, and apple pieces, as well as all the vegetables that I get everyday as part of my natural diet. I also love Cheerios and in the mornings I steal them out of Mom's bowl when she's not looking!
I love to play with my Da Bird toy, which Mom will twirl around while I chase after it. When I want to play, I drag it through the house, plop it at Mom's feet, and give her a soulful cry. How can she not play with me! I also love to sit in the sink and try to catch the water before it goes down the drain. It's hard to do but a lot of fun!
My very favorite activity is to beat up Corky. She's all bravado and loud words, but I know underneath she's really scared of me. So sometimes I play very submissively with her and then, when she's feeling too cocky, I whomp her good on top of her head with my paw! That shows her who's the head kitty around here!
