Student Choice Artifact #2

Although, as a mother,  I am my daughter's teacher, I've also learned many things from her in the past five years.
It was through her that I really learned to love the teaching-learning process.
It was especially interesting to study theories from Erikson, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Kohlberg (to name only a few), while having my very own example/model/student/daughter.

We did that whole  sensorimotor-stage-stuff; and  I REALLY understand "object permanence". We've since graduated to preoperational status.
"Collective Monologue" isn't just a definition in a book for us.
Independence (a.k.a.  Erickson's stage four, Initiative versus guilt) happens to be a real goal in our house.  Thanks to my Education 300 class, I have a greater awareness about this important event in her life.
Studying all the theories and issues concerning developmental challenges has also prepared me for what my future students might experience, both in and out of the classroom.

However, being a parent has really given me more awareness of all the different aspects of learning, and has given me a greater understanding of my future students.
