Professional
commitment involves continued education. It's been estimated that
information doubles every year. One good way of staying current on
information is by using the Internet, both as a learning tool and as a
teaching tool. As a teacher it's important to have good computer
skills and the ability to incorporate information technology into
classroom activities. I strive to gain new insight about today's
student, and our world by visiting websites for teachers. I also
subscribed to Instructor Magazine, a Scholastic magazine offering
education news, lesson plans, teacher-to-teacher idea exchanges,
etc.

A project that I started in Education 100 was my Web Site Review
book. With specific criteria in mind (easy navigation, interactive
activities, educational quality and more), we were assigned to find sites
that we felt would be suitable for use in a classroom. I wanted to
continue this project even after my class ended, so I incorporated it into
a web site. That way, I can access my "book" wherever there happens
to be Internet access.
