placement of abandoned, injured or abused
dogs.

Never heard of us? That's not surprising. Advertising takes too great a share of our very small budget--money we feel is better spent on the care and feeding of the animals.

Animal Rescue Halfway House is small--necessarily so. We can care for a maximum of twelve dogs at a time because each animal is treated like a beloved pet!

When an animal is rescued, it is immediately seen by one of the veterinarians with whom we are associated. Any medical problem or injury is treated, and the animal is innoculated. It is checked for parasites (fleas, ticks, worms, etc.) and treated accordingly. When health and weight allow, the dog is neutered.

This is what makes Animal Rescue Halfway House unique!

Once released by the treating veterinarian, the animal is brought HOME, not to a cage or kennel which produces an undesirable "kennel mentality". In the home, the dog is observed, and its personality determined. With much love and patience, the dog learns what is expected of it and how to live in a home environment. It is housebroken and "gentled", soon to become a loving pet. Only when we know the animal's personality completely and feel confident that it is ready do we begin the search for a permanent home.

Much care and effort go into finding the right owner for the dog. Interviews, in-home evaluations and discussions all help in finding the ideal match. Both the owner AND pet should be happy and comfortable with each other. Our goal is to have the adoption last a lifetime!

To make the adoption easier on both owner and pet, all of the animal's belongings are included...collar and leash, toys, feeding bowl and mat...even a supply of food and treats. We find that this makes the transition less traumatic, since so much is familiar. This also allows the new owner more time to spend getting to know their new friend during the first 48 hours. Bonding is quicker and smoother and the ideal pet will have an ideal home.

Obviously, this takes money to achieve. Since Animal Rescue Halfway House receives no government funding or grants, we depend on the generosity of our supporters to continue. Donations are tax deductible.

Please help...Let us know if you are interested in adopting a pet or if you can provide a foster home for a pet.
