~ more like random thoughts... or something

Da dee dum dum... oh you want to know more about me? What a surprise, usually nobody really cares! Well, I guess I have to prepare something so... here it goes.

• *** First of all, some stuff about what I'm like with other people, and how I think I am treated. I really can't truthfully say I have a special group of friends... not anymore, anyways. Last year at my old university I had my best friend, and in high school I had my little group. Here at TAMUK, though, things are kind of odd... I usually don't notice it, but I'm alone most of the time, unless I happen to see somebody I know and that puts up with my talking about nothing in general. You know, walking to and from class, between saturday morning practice and the game, between classes, between band practice and evening recitals. Either practicing clarinet or a piano piece, or sitting around waiting for somebody to show up and talk (which usually doesn't happen, haha pffffft). The two people that I really consider more than friendly aquantances (which means I actually think* they would invite me to do something outside of school) are Diana, (hi!) and Belinda. Kelly, too, if I can consider our out of town trip with Diana and her boyfriend to the Texas State Aquarium something not school related. Perhaps Cindy, also. Everybody else... well, lets just say either I don't feel I belong anywhere, or I just don't want to belong! To everybody I would say hi to in the hall or wave at around campus - Kelly, Ronnie and her friends (um... Joseph, Angel, this group is awesome!) Margie, Wendy (hmmm these two are nice to talk to whenever I can find one by herself), Victoria, Buttsweat, Alisha, Denise, Denyse, Mando, Jessica (contraBBb) Joseph (clarinet) Arnold, 0and Becky (in rough order of how well I think I know them). If I forgot anybody... well, oops! Its not all that bad being on my own, though... It's nice not having to worry about people missing me if I'm not someplace I'm usually at. Also, I don't have to worry about finding study time, because I'm never anywhere else "hanging out." Whatever all this means, just know I'm content with myself and I couldn't give a damn what people thought of me! hahaha pfffffft!

• My name is Rogelio Garza, but my friends and teachers call me Roger because I went to a predominantly white high school where nobody could ever say my name. At TAMUK people can say it, but Roger stuck so I'm stuck with it. I never liked either of those names anyway. I'm 18 years old, and my birthday is on January 7 of 1982, which means I'll be 19 this coming spring *sigh* I'm such an old fart. haha. Oh and I'm a sophomore at TAMUK, Biology and Music Ed major. *** By the way, no I'm not crazy, I just know very well that I love both Music and Biology, and that I can handle a double degree, even as different as they are in their core requirements. Next semester, actually, I'll be taking 24 hours... maybe I am crazy? (Biology - Genetics, Biology -Vertebrate Zoology, Chemistry - Inorganic 2, Math - Trigonometry, Music - Applied Clarinet and Bassoon (DUH!), Oboe lessons (woohoo!), Brass Class, and Theory/ET (if I don't test out of it for next semester). If only I had the time to take piano lessons, then I would, but oh well. MAYBE just MAYBE I will take a piano lesson, IF I can test out of theory class for next semester.

• I play Clarinet and Bassoon. I'm much better on clarinet than I am on bassoon, but I'm trying to catch up on my bassoon skills. I picked up the clarinet for the first time to play in a band the spring semester of my freshman year of high school. Before that, I played trumpet, and I really really sucked! That makes this school year my 4 ½ year of playing clarinet. I think I'm pretty good considering most people have been playing since 6 grade... had I started in 6th grade I would be my 9th year, but oh well. I got out of high school a year early, so I should be a freshman this year.... but I'm not, I will hopefully have around 58-61 hours of college credit by the end of this semester.

• I've lived in Corpus Christi all my life, but I was born in Brownsville. um... I went to Calallen High School... I went to Baylor for a year but I couldn't afford it anymore so I came to TAMUK pfffft... I will say, though, that I like it better here than at Baylor. Baylor... well, is in a bubble shielded from the rest of the world. The people there want christian music playing in the cafeterias, my friend once told me she heard about somebody that filed a complaint because they were playing radio music and she was "offended." Oh well!

• Yes, I speak some German, I don't claim to be fluent, but I can talk about some everyday things. With a dictionary, I can read things like the original Grimm's fairy tales. If you really care about things that I've said, try this link:

Systran Translator

Its a decent online translator that gets some of the more complex foreign idioms that other translators might not catch. If I remember correctly, it has Español, Deutsch (German), Français (French, duhh), Italiano (you know), Português (mhmm). Not that I'm all that complex... but you know what I mean. Geh weiter, und lern mehr über mich!

• Just some interesting facts and some of my opinions... I like the freaks and weirdos. I like oddball people with strange interests. Those that are unafraid to show what interests them are the best people. One shouldn't care too much about what other people think; unfortunately I care slightly too much what people think. Not that I make any effort to please anybody, I just feel left out a lot of the time. Sure, people talk to me, but then they turn around and go out with their 'real' friends. Oh well! I'll just practice some clarinet or something, learn some more German, read about fish, something better than associating with people that don't really want to listen to me anyway. Am I bitter? nahhh...

• I'll always choose the outcasts to talk to over "normal" people. The small child in the corner with no friends in a classroom, the poor kid sitting all by himself watching everybody else play baseball or something. The one that gets pushed around, the one everybody else makes fun of or calls names. They usually have better personalities than most people when you get to know them.

• Hmmm I'm planning on getting a new Clarinet this february, I'm going to choose one at TMEA. Maybe a bass clarinet, too, if I think I can get a job soon. I want a Selmer to low C like on my pics page, but down to low Eb will serve for the time being. Just as long as I don't share it with anybody. Ohhhh to have my own bass clarinet...

Are you bored yet?? I might put up some lyrics to songs I like pretty soon.
