Recorders

  • Yes, recorders are real instruments, fully chromatic for almost two and a half octaves. There is real music written for the recorder, which is sometimes played on flute, which I think is a complete atrocity. Recorders have their own sound and music was written specifically for it. This page is a fingering reference for those that care to learn the recorder, and appreciate it for what it is. Soon I'll put up titles of solo Recorder music.

from left to right: Tenor Recorder in C, Alto in F, 2 Sopranos in C,
2 Sopraninos in F, and a Garklein (piccolo recorder) in C. I want a Bass in F,
the Bass uses a bocal like a bassoon!! Yes, that is my bed.

I put together this fingering chart in order to make it easier for all to understand. I have searched for good fingering pages, but have found only a few. This will add to the availability of on-line Fingering Charts for the Recorder. All fingerings are for Baroque (English) System recorders in C. I hope this turns to be useful to all players, beginner and advanced alike. Enjoy!
