I received a copy of Gustave Faber's Birth Certificate today. It shows what we knew - Gustave's father is listed as Julius, white, born in the United States, and has occupation listed simply as hotel. BUT!!! I have his mother "Molly" given name was Amelia. She too is listed as white, born in Germany. This is all the information that was recorded. There was a Paul Faber in St. Paul who had a hotel, could have been Julius's father. I will research this possiblity more very soon!

In recent months I have been searching to make the connection that our family grapevine has spun. I have finally found after obtaining a copy of Gustave Mackyol's SS-5, which is his application for a Social Security Card, he lists his parents as Julius Faber and Molly Grösslein. He also lists he was adopted by his mother's sister Kathrine Grösslein and her husband John Mackyol. This is how our family's name came to change. I am currently waiting to receive a copy of Gustave's birth certificate. This should show me more information about Julius and Molly.
I have been in touch with Andreas Grösslein, of Germany. He is very excited to help us because as I had told him, he is the only Grösslein listed in pretty much the entire WWW. My fingers are crossed that he will be able to help. When a connection is made I will have further information here, such as a tree outline. For right now I will wait. Thank you for stopping by!
