Sacred Oak Farms

Pictures will be arriving Shortly

I don't know if you would really call our home a farm, as we don't have a real barn, have only an acre of land and are actually in a subdivision, but I figure we have enough animals around to qualify as a farm: a pot bellied pig, three rabbits, five hens, three turtles, a parakeet, a finch, two bearded dragons and some fish.  My horse is kept at my friends place.  You be the judge.  We have nine beautiful huge oak trees, hence the name.  When I moved back in with my parents (long story), I brought all of my animals and, much to the dismay of my parents, basically converted the garage into a barn (sorry dad, I made  Mr. Rudi's pen bigger so there isn't enough room in the garage for the car anymore.  Your tools?  Check under Dandelion's nest, but you'll have to wait because she is in the process of laying an egg and she gets upset if she is disturbed.)  I had my chickens when I first lived with my parents, but at first they weren't quite sure what to think of the pig.  I assured them that they would love him in no time.  My dad's exact words; "I don't know, if you say so."  Well, needless to say,  my parents fell in love with him in no time.
Our house is about 35 years old.  When we first move out here 15 years ago, the place was surrounded by woods.  Well, now the trees are gone and we have been incorperated into a subdivsion of big very expensive houses.  Something ironic: the subdivsion's name is Seven Oaks.  Even more ironic: the only oak trees are in our yard and we aren't even technically part of the plan.  But, through this sorrowful distruction of Mother Earth, there was an event that was interesting.  While digging one of the basements, the workers found a human skeleton.  The joke around the house for a while was that Jimmy Hoffa was found.  The skeleton was sent to Michigan State University whose studies concluded it was Native American from the late 1800's.  I immediately had the scene from "Poltergist" playing though my mind where all of the bodies and coffins started rising out of the ground.  No other bones were found, so the workers continued their distruction.  I used to love telling the new home owners about the skeleton that was found and conviently moving the location closser to their house (hee, hee, hee).
