It all started with my dream, when I told my husband he didn't laugh he just listened. I dreamed that we took Lab's in to our home till we could find a loving home for them. So you see it all started with my dream and our Lab ( Ebony on right ) and this computer. I was surfing on the web one afternoon checking out things on Lab's, I came across a Rescue for dogs. I wonder could their be a Rescue for Lab's and could there be one in IL? Yes! a Lab Rescue but the closest one was in IN, and by now you probably guest it I emailed IN and that is how it started.
Boomer: I was
notified on 10/7/98 that I was to receive my first fostered dog.
His name was Boomer, a black Lab that's time was up at the
shelter. I met an other volunteer half way and then we were on
our way home. He was a happy go lucky male that was about 2 years
old. He knew some obedience commands and got along good with our
3 the female dogs. He was such a clumsy dog that one day he fell
on our basement steps, running up them. He had injured his back
leg and we had to keep him calm and let it heal. We had him one
month then his new family adopted him. They also had a chocolate
male Lab, his adopted family says they are just like brothers. He
is doing good and has started obedience classes. His leg gave him
some problems, but now it's okay.
Hershey: I
received a call that there was a chocolate Lab in a humane
society near our home. Come to find out she was picked up in June
of 1998 and it was now November 1998. She was going crazy, she
was in a cage all this time. She had some problems trusting other
dogs. Do to when she was quite young another dog ripped off a
chunk of one of her ears. After she learned to trust our dogs she
was fine. She is happy and with a young couple that has no other
pets. She has doggie friends on each side of her backyard. I'm
happy to say she is doing fine.
Specx: He was the
youngest so far that we fostered. He was 7 months old and a mixed
Lab, but he had a lot of Lab traits. He was being fostered at
another home, but Christmas was coming and I was asked if I would
take him. He was the sweetest thing, never any trouble with him.
He was adopted to a family that has 2 boys, they just love him.
They did change his name. I just heard he is doing good and
starting to get into things. Just like a puppy!
