Rosemel's Standard Poodles
Welcome to my web page. You have just entered the wonderful world of Rosemel's Standard Poodles. My name is Karen Belt. I'm the caretaker of the most affectionate, intelligent and loving breed of dog, the standard poodle.  I have  been breeding and raising Standard Poodles since 1972 when I purchased my first
standard Ch Royalyn Morgan.  It was like having a piece of chocolate and I had to have more.  I purchased Ch Cade Volya, and my breeding program started.
In the last ten years I have graced the show ring as an owner handler in  conformation and  obedience.  As of 1999 I have ten confirmation champions and one CDX. The picture at the top of my web page is Ch Rosemel's Hoku's Promise, CDX. She was my first home - bred champion. Her mother, Ch Melrose Princess Natasha, finished her championship shortly after her daughter, Hoku. I then purchased Ch Aerial Encore of Rosemel, whom I finished owner handled. Jodi (her call name) was then bred and produced ten puppies.  Four became confornation champions. I amy mainley breeding slivers blue creams and some blacks. In 2000 to 2005, I have been doing more in  Obedience, Agility as I feel it is more rewarding, and more fun for the dogs.
My goal is to breed healthy, happy, well- adjusted puppies. All my males and bitches that I breed must  be fully screened for the following: PRA, HIP DYSPLASIA, SEBACEOUS ADENITIS, DNA, VON WILLEBRANDS DISEASE, THYROID DISEASE AND ATCH FOR ADDISONS.
All puppies are raised in our home and socialized by family members and friends.  Puppies are temperament tested to make sure they go to ideal families.
All puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract,  limited registration, and a two-year health contract. You may reach us by phone 775-972-8556

Today's Standard Poodles are suffering from a tremendous increase in health problems, genetic and other problems, due to high levels of inbreeding(including line-breeding, a form of inbreeding)  The popular-sire" syndrome is creating a genetic bottle-neck. To rediversify our gene-pool, we are crossing Miniature lines to bring new blood lines into our Standards and trying to aleviate these problems.  Only fully tested, high quality stock will be used. Europeans freely interbred between the toy-dwarf-and miniature sizes, to manintain a larger gene-pool,and produce consistent, high quality individuals. For more information on canine diversity, please go to    www.canine-genetics.com/ I am also doing the min/standard combination to bring more diversity into my bloodlines.
