Pharaoh's Story

In 1997, after our 18 yearold miniature Dachshund went over the "rainb ow bridge", we adopted Pharaoh, a retired racing greyhound.
After 1 year of off and on again illnesses, and over $1,000 in Vet bills, Pharaoh was diagnosed with an "auto-immune disease".

As I am a nutritionist (Registered Dietetic Technician) I decided to do a web search on the causes and hopefully the cures for this disease.
This is my program based on two years of research. Pharaoh has now been completely off the prednisone and his platelets have been within the normal range since April, 1999.

Pharaoh's Program

Stopped all vaccinations.
Changed from Heartgard (monthly) to Nemacide (daily) heartworm meds.
Started an all Raw diet with supplements.
Exercise (running in a completely fenced in area) at least three times a week.

Pharaoh's Diet

Every AM:
One raw chicken back or three raw chicken necks (bones, skin and all)
Every PM:
Day 1 & 2:
8 oz sardines mixed with1/4 cup yogurt, 1 tea chopped garlic, 1/2 cup pureed raw vegetables, 1/2 banana and an orange if I have one.
Day 3:
1 cup cooked whole oats mixed with 2 raw eggs ( put in blender shells and all). Add yogurt, banana, pureed raw veg. garlic and 1 tabl. Flax seed oil.
Day 4:
1 raw chicken back and 1 cup Innova Kibble in Pharaoh's Buster Cube. (This is on days he doesn't go to the park to run)
Day 5 & 6
1 raw chicken back, yogurt, garlic, multi-vit, puree raw vegetables, with 1 tbl. olive oil plus 1/2 banana and orange.

Day 7

1/2 lb. liver or Kidney cut in cubes with yogurt, 1 tbl. Canola oil, 1/2 banana, pureed veg. and raw garlic, multi vit. and an orange if available.

Once a week, on a day when he doesn't go to the park, Pharaoh gets a raw knuckle bone to chew on.

On days when I don't have an orange, I mix in 500 mg. of Vit. C. I also put in 200 mg of Vit. E at least 3 times a week and 1/2 a Multi Vit with Minerals (for people) every day.

On days I run out of something (or am lazy) he will get a total of 3 cups of Innova. I like to keep him used to the kibble for when we go on vacation.

This program is for a 4 year old, 84 lb. greyhound, but can be adjusted to any size dog.
