Helping You Learn About Our Breed
The Neapolitan Mastiff

Finding a Good Vet

Finding a good Vet that knows or has seen a Neapolitan Mastiff can be hard. My advice to you, is that, any Vet can treat these dogs so long as they are given the proper reading materials, that can be provided by yourself. The most important information you can give your vet about this breed is:
This breed is extremely sensitive to sedatives and tranquilizers.

If your Neo is in need of any sedatives or tranquilizers, for surgery, or an ear cropping, C-Section, or any other need. You will need to tell your vet EVERY time:
Routinely administer only 1/4 to 1/3 the NORMAL DOSAGE per body weight.
Routinely administer only 1/4 to 1/3 the NORMAL DOSAGE per body weight.
Routinely administer only 1/4 to 1/3 the NORMAL DOSAGE per body weight.
Routinely administer only 1/4 to 1/3 the NORMAL DOSAGE per body weight.
(A LESS dosage compared to say, what they would give a Rottwieler)
This may save your Neo's from being overdosed.

I would suggest you take a look at my breeders list, find your state, and either call or email other breeders who are near you to see who their vet is.
