Every one I know calls me monkey girl. I a monkey freak! I have a collection of over 400 monkeys and counting. I work for a local animal shelter. I not just a person who collectets monkeys. I really care about all primates. My favorite primate is the golden lion tamerin and the chimpanzee. I have also met Jane Goodall many times. What a sweet lady!

Linda Pleas help! I've had 6 monkeys and have beliefs like yours according to what I've read. I have been a sanctuary also! However, I have Lupus and my immune system has developed an agressive allergy to my one remaining monkey. Unfortunately it means can spend little quality time with him lately and it's getting worse. just cleaning his cage puts me down for hours and gives me severe cold/flu type sypmtoms for about two days. I have always held the position that my primates were not objects to be t ssed when someone tired of them, and I have paid only for one and then only to rescue her from an inhumane pet store feeding her birdseed and handling her with full body suits and polenooses and she was a squirrel monkey....some people! Coby, my last liv ng simian friend is a 10 year old Mona or Monnet from the Guenon Family. He is similar to a Dianas or a DeBrazze or a Greens monkey. H has been nuetered and has had all four fangs removed. He had broken two of them and they were so sharp and jagged that he was not eating and he sent me for 38 stitches. He felt so bad, he still grooms the scar and pouts. He is sociable and loving but not domesticated. He plays with the dog and cats, and likes to be petted on his terms. he has arange of vocals that he ses to consistently tell us needs and feelings. He is not at all noisy unless he is scared. Yellow moving trucks such as Ryder scare him and he will sound an alarm. He wears a harness and we take him out on a long tether in our large treed backyard. I m telling you this because I do not want to put him down but I am now at the point where it is my health and my children need a mom. If you can help or know of someone who can please contact me! OK for one thing monkey behavior isnt at al sweet and as loveign as you say it is. They kil their own kind and eat thm (ask any prmatologist). They are very territorial (chimps and babboons are anyhow). To say they are Gentle is to totally misrepersen thses OMNIVORES!! Gorellas are gentle, other primates are fairly violent.
