A showdog from the beginning, Oscar was awarded Best Puppy in Show at the tender age of 11 weeks at the Western NY Rare Breed Association, defeating 27 breeds and multiple puppy Champions, and may be the youngest BIS winner in Breed History.

Finishing his Canadian Championship at 7-1/2months in 5 shows, and his American Championship in 4 shows the following week, Oscar is, to date, the youngest Shiba to finish both titles undefeated to the points.

Oscar was shown as a Champion on a limited basis in 1996, but amassed enough wins in that short time to rank as the #1 Breeder/Owner handled Shiba for the year.

1997 saw his first year as a campaigned Champion. He spent 3 quarters in the Top 10, and finished the year at #12 Breed and #15 All-Breed. He was 2nd Award of Merit at the 1997 NSCA Regional Specialty At The Pier, and was again ranked #1 Breeder/Owner handled Shiba for 1997. In August, Oscar joined the ranks of TOP WINNING show dogs by being awarded his first Group 1! We couldn't be more proud.

1998 was another Top 20 year for this young dog, with a second AOM at the NY Regional Specialty, several more Group placements and an unprecedented THIRD YEAR as the #1 Breeder/Owner handled Shiba in the country.

Oscar attended the 1999 NSCA National Specialty in Plant City, Florida in October 1999. We are PLEASED to announce that he, along with son Yogi and daughter Emily, WON the Stud Dog class. This was a very important win for our breeding program, as Oscar defeated not only a Hall of Fame sire, but the Best of Breed winner as well!

In 2000, Oscar completed his CD title!!

At the 2003 NSCA National Specialty, Oscar repeated his Stud Dog win, again with son Yogi and daughter Emily! We BELIEVE that he is the ONLY 2x Stud Dog winner at the National Specialty.

As Oscar, now 9-1/2, has decided he will ONLY attend Specialties... We travelled to the 2004 NSCA National Specialty in Kelso, Washington. This is the farthest Oscar has ever gone to compete, and all comers were ready. His first venture into the Veterans Class, was more than I could have ever hoped for. 6 classes in 4 days, Oscar was, at 9-1/2, BOS in the Veteran Sweeps at the First Evergreen Specialty, BISSw in the NSCA National Veteran Sweeps, Best Veteran at the NSCA National Specialty AND Best Veteran at the SECOND Evergreen Specialty!!! More important than the wins of this INCREDIBLE Shiba, were the unbelievable comments from the spectators and exhibitors. There are no words to express how touched I was by the warm wishes from the spectators. To win with a young dog, hot on a campaign is certainly exciting. I've been there, and Oscar has always risen to whatever I've asked of him. But to win with an "old-timer" who hasn't been to a show in 3 years...THAT is exciting.

2005 was another "BANNER" year...3 shows, 3 Specialties, Oscar WON 1 Veteran Class, 1 Veteran Sweeps and placed 2nd in Veteran Dogs in 2 other classes including the National Specialty. Oscar is a testament to QUALITY BREEDING...to still be competative at 10-1/2 years of age.

Oscar is OFA Excellent, CERF certified, Patella Normal and DNA profiled. A Champion producer, he is now retired from breeding, and spends his days just being a dog, helping to raise puppies and enjoy the "Golden Years".
