It's a beautiful day, just a few wispy clouds and a strong sea breeze. Sea gulls and terns are wheeling and crying overhead. Sand pipers are scurrying back and forth, dashing toward the water as the waves recede, and then shoreward again, little legs pumping like mad! I get such a kick out of them. A sea gull strolls up, eyeing us sidewise, hoping for a handout. If we give him a piece of bread, there'll be a crowd of them beating the air around us in seconds. (You'd better rub in a little sun tan lotion, if you're going to be here for awhile.)
Take a deep breath, smell the wonderful salty air! It isn't crowded here today, but central Florida's beaches seldom are, compared to those up north. Just a few families, a few groups of little kids building forts and castles in the sand, and 5 or 6 surfers wishing the waves were bigger. Someone's radio is playing, you can just catch a hint of the music now and then, over the sound of the waves.
When I'm swimming I often see fairly large fish, and sometimes manta rays, slipping by like gray ghosts in the water.
Well, I know you want to swim for awhile, go ahead! The tide's in, and the water's warm. You'll love it! I'll be here on the beach when you get back....it was nice to see you! I hope you'll come again soon, and look for me, Zimelza, I'm always here!
Here on the beach, the stresses of day to day life just slip away with each receding wave. The sun, and the breeze, and the waves endlessly breaking on the warm sand, are so wonderfully relaxing.
