• A Black Bear and three cubs have visited Echo Hill South starting about June 9 and on and off for at least a week. Several bird feeders have been damaged. Amherst Police recommend patience and removal of bird feeders for the duration.
• Some of you may have noticed an artist with his easel set up at the pond this Spring 1998. That is none other than Jim Lumley, Master of Lilacland, of the Provincetown School of artists. Perhaps we should look for our pond setting appearing in his paintings?

• The long waited arrival of our mother duck with her ducklings on our pond occurred sometime this Memorial Day weekend. The mother and at least five ducklings were sighted on the pond at 7AM May 25 and it was confirmed that the duck nest at the marsh area was empty. The mother was still incubating the eggs on Friday May 22.
• Amherst Conservation Commission visit to Echo Hill Pond at Stony Hill Rd. Pond outlet at 8:30 AM on Friday May 22.
