Seasons Greetings from the Crowsnest Pass! We
hope this letter finds you all well and in good spirits.
The highlight of the year was the
marriage of Vince's daughter
Monica to Michael Robertson on October 21, 2001!!
The ceremony took place at Riverwood Mansion in
Nashville, Tennessee.The weather was gorgeous, so during
rehearsal it was decided to hold the wedding outdoors. The temperature was 80 degrees and sunny. Vince got to
walk Monica down the aisle and his son Scott was an usher. All of the
men in the wedding party had very handsome tuxedos. (First time Vince
had been in a tuxedo since Junior Prom in 1959!) Monica's wedding gown

Betty's 15 year old daughter Lyndsey
wanted to go with Betty and Vince to the wedding. After checking out prices
for flying, Amtrak and car rental, we decided it would be best to drive.
The Olds Calais has seen better days, so we went car shopping for a late
model car and ended up buying a 2002 Saturn! Driving the new car on a
5,000 mile trip was mostly fun, but boring at times. We made several stops along the way: Arlene's in Cornell and Marjorie and Jerry's in Franklin, Wisconsin. Betty was getting homesick on the drive back, so we went from
Franklin to Minneapolis, spent the night with Lisa, Brad and Griffin
and then headed back to Canada. We encountered quite a blizzard in North
Dakota, but it was the middle of the day and we kept driving. We arrived at
the Canada/US border just before dark, and the weather and roads were
clear, so we continued on. By taking turns driving, we made it to Lethbridge at 4 a.m. after almost 23 hours of driving. We were tired, but glad to
be (almost) home. We spent the night with Betty's daughter Elisha and came home the following day. Tired, but glad to be home!
During the past year, Richlar Industries,
that Vince used to do accounting work for went out of business, so he had
been job hunting. There isn't much industry around this area, and he finally
found work at the Turtle Mountain Gas Bar where he started work in June. Betty's
son Jamie (James) works there also, on a part time basis. It's hard getting used to spending time outside pumping gas in the cold weather!
Vince is getting ready to spend his fourth Christmas in Canada with his "new family". We are planning on a quiet Christmas at home, but expect a few friends and relatives to stop by during the Holiday Season.
