I just picked up my first Kinky book,
"Armadillos & Old Lace" as suggested by a friend. Love it! Elmore Leonard
meets Henny Youngman. The only problem I have is that it took me this long
to find out about the Kinkstah.
Comments:
Kinky, I have a confession to make...although
I have loved you for many a Texas moon, for some stupid reason waited until
today to buy one of your books (J. Edgar...) Please forgive me. We have
loved your music for close to 20 years and many of your song have always
been "traveling music" while we drove the six hours to get to the Frio
River each summer. My husband and I always thought it was kinda cute, in
a sick and perverted way, to hear our 7 year old sing "Waitret, O Waitret".
But my husband and I have decided we get too embarrassed to hear him sing
it now...he's 16. Thanks for all the laughs!

Hey Kinky ... I am a fan from the old
days ... say you play in Hollywood and Huntington Beach ... I've even sat
on your old black cad ... "The Jew Canoe" ... brought you a six pack of
Lone Star long necks when it was against the law to transport from Texa
to California ... but I felt you needed it ... and we sat and drank on
together .... the point is ... I really need the chords to your songs ....I
am getting on in years and I play the guitar and sing for my grandchildern,
their education and my song lis are lacking because I don't know and can't
find the cords to your songs ..... can you put that on your sight or any
suggestions ... you should make a song book and sell them ..... to sort
of quote one of my favorite authors .."It would be a realllllllll inancial
pleasure!!!" Thanks so much ... and thanks for all the memorys.. Tim Durkin

Not everybody cares...Tries...or gets
it. But a good read is about as hard to find as a normal cat. It amazes
me that these super stores like Barnes & Noble & Bookstop have
1 or 2 titles by you and 20 books on Princess Di. Put the Kinkster on the
case! I need to go online to get my hands on most of your titles. Computers
can be good for something. Ramabam a ding dong. Thanks for the words!

Hey Kinkster, is it true you might be
in L. A. in August, and did you, in fact, make a three-way phone call today
with your friend's assistant, MeMe? Cause if it's true, that's the only
way I'm going to that crazy woman's party...so you goin' or what?

I'm a big fan of all the Kinkster's books.
Can't wait for the new ones to come out so I keep reading the old ones

I first became enlightened by the Kinksta
nearly ten years ago. At the time, I was tooling along the New Jersey Turnpike
at the helm of a friend's brand new Saab Turbo 900, challenging the locally
posted speed limits. As fate would have it, the state poli e were more
than up to the challenge and they politely asked if I would "just pull
'er over to the side of the road, please." Well, this tragic turn of events
was short lived. For you see, I neglected to discharge the cassette tape
that had been entertain ng us with the rollicking sounds of " Kinky Friedman
and the Texas Jewboys ". When the good officer bent down to check my credentials,
he was intrigued by the music we were playing...a little to loudly. At
any rate, we discussed a little music... he proc aimed in good faith that
he liked what he heard, and we all hailed Bruce Springsteen as " THE BOSS
", and the guy let me go! So thanks, Kinky. Not only has your work ( including
books ) brought me many hours of pleasure, but it saved me 200 bucks as
well. . oh, one other thing. I teach an A.P. sophomore English class, and
I suggested to one of my more illumined students that he might enjoy reading
one of your books this summer. He asked," what kind of writer is Kinky
Friedman?"...How do I answer that???< r>

Saw the Kinkster's show in Oslo on 26
th of june. The consert was in a shitty place called Mars, and the Kinkster
himself was not to pleased about it. He was specally unhappy about the
fact that the management had placed all the stools and tables in back of
emormous room. Well, we took care of that, we just the tables up front
of the scene. And all though the consert should have drawn more people,
it became an intimate and happy evening. The Kinkster was funny as he always
is, he even had some new jokes, and his version of Wild Man from Borneo
was r ally totching (did I spell that wright?). He did 3 encores, and spent
a lot of time with the audience afterwards, signing autographs and handing
out lucky plectrums. His guitarplaying may be a bit on the weird side,
but Kinky Friedman is one of the great entertainers of our time. I will
guard my ucky plectrum with my life! Dag

Kinky's an American renaissance man, songwriter,
humorist, stylist, one of the most pleasurable reads to come along in ages.
Carl Hiassen has formidable competition, and so do other authors. The music
within would be welcome should more appear. Dan Hicks is still cranking
it out, even though Michael Bloomfield has long passed on. Thanks.

Finally found the words to some songs
from "Sold American" that I have been puzzling over for years, but also
I think the transcription of some words are incorrect as well. Like in
"The Ballad of Charles Whitman", in the second verse, it should be "The
C ancellor cried, "It's adolescent...", not ""The chance turned right..."
Anyway, thanks for the memory refresher! Pat

It was a very pleasant experience talking

Comments:
Dear Kinky: I've enjoyed each of your
books over the past few years. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I never
listened to your music back when you were recording it (although I have
lately). The Ballad of Charles Whitman, They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus
Anymor , and We Reserve The Right To Refuse Service to You are my favorites.
I was also pleased to find out that there really is a Steve Rambam (I actually
thought about your books when one of the teachers was quoting Maimonides
at my kids' school last week). Anyway, keep the books coming - I can't
imagine anything funnier for American people born between about 1940 and
1958.

I've been a fan of Kinky's music - and
more recently, his novels - since I was about 12. My dad - who was fortunate
enough to have visisted Pampells in Kerville, Texas a couple of years back
- introduced me to his albums from such an early age, and I hav been an
admirer ,of a man who I believe to be one of the greatest living wordsmiths
alive, ever since. Long live the Wild Man from Borneo.......
