I have tried to make sure that the above information is correct--but I cannot guarantee it. There may be other common names or nicknames for some of these plants: I have put alternates that I am aware of in parentheses; if you know of other names, please contact me and I will add them also. I feel confident that I have the correct family names and the first part of the scientific names (genera). These are correct according to at least one of my sources, usually most or all. The botany books and botanists themselves often give varying names for the same plant. (Work is ongoing toward standardizing the names, but there are still many overlapping labels!) Some of the specific species names were not as clearly identifiable in my research, but I have listed the names which most closely described my specimens. In some cases, notably several cultivated flowering plants, I have simply listed "spp." to indicate that several species are indicated. Please let me know of any corrections or additions you feel are necessary. |
