Torre Mayor

tower#00239

Paul Reichmann, developer of Canary Wharf, the development
that eventually revitalised London's Docklands, is building
this tower in Mexico City, a 738ft office tower that will be
the tallest building in Latin America. The building will rise
55flrs above Paseo de la Reforma and Chapultepec park. The
architects, Zeidler Roberts Partnership, juxtapose two
vertical elements: one curved, green glass structure, opening
out on multiple views, and a burnished granite structure with
a rectangular floor plate. The glass body leaves visible the
interior structure of the first ten floors, emphasizing the
the entrance and paralleling the nine parking levels at the
rear of the building.

The Torre Mayor will have 800,000sq ft of column-free office
space, while four underground levels and nine above provide
2,000 parking spaces. A 32,000sq ft commercial area is
planned for the entrance.
