I had one especially good friend in the class of 1959. After years of addiction, I became the person that another thought I should be. This is an attempt at making amends. I graduated from college and currently work for the state of Minnesota as director of chemical dependency outpatient services. I had planned to retire but changed my mind as I am having fun. I really enjoyed the emotional trip as I read comments from members of the class of 59. Thank you.

Regret that I will be unable to attend the reunion. Have been nominated to the Advisory committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages of the Health resources and Services Administration and must be in Washington at this time.
On the personal side, my husband and I have moved to Polson, Montana. Our new location is on Flathead Lake, 60 miles south of Glacier National Park and about 90 miles west and south of the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Love the lake and environment. I moved my office for the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology to the home location and operate with email, fax and phone. An ideal situation for us.
We continue to travel and enjoy our slower pace of life here in Montana.
Best wishes for a successful reunion. Elaine

I'm so busy through this season I don't think at this time I'll have any time off. Going to Springfield, MO for a Cushman Motor Scooter annual meeting (#17) with brother, Jim on the 13th of June. My schedule with my contract in the cities and my custome
rs up here are heady. I'm a painting contractor. In the 70's I was with Burger King Corp. and had 2 directorships. But I left -- too many ...holes. It was called "The Peter Principal."
Sharon & I would have liked to attend, but the July 3rd deal -- we all have families and this is a National Holiday. We have a daughter, Lynn, 32, and our neighbors which we don't see during the summer as I bid on Saturdays and Sundays. For the next gathering, maybe a late June or ? We'll be here till hell freezes ove . Love the area -- deer, eagles, bear, wolves, you name it, we got. it. Hayward is like Spirit Lake, a tourist town.. Traffic is terrible during the summer. Thanks.

After 2 years near Montevideo, Uruguay, and 10 years in Lima, Peru, South America, we have spent the last 4 years in France. We are situated on the northwest side of Paris. We are doing the same thing we have done for years, and giving the same message
that we have always been giving and of which all parts of the world still need to be reminded. That Jesus Christ is alive and well, He is coming again and everyone needs to be ready for His return. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell. Everyone choose
to which place he wants to go. It's simply a choice between repenting of his sinful nature and inviting Jesus Christ into his life to take it over, thus receiving Him as personal Savior...or simply neglecting ones need for personal salvation and living l
fe for oneself.
The reason we are spending our lives doing this is because of its importance, not just for this life but for the longer life which continues forever, for all eternity. Our present plans are to stay here until the ministry is establish d nd in the hands of trained Frenchmen, which will undoubtedly take several more years. We are content to be here but the more that one travels the more one knows "there's no place like home", not even close to it. America, with all its problems is still ead and shoulders above the rest of the pack! God has certainly blessed our nation because of the Biblical principles on which it was founded, any trouble we have is directly related to our departure from those principles.

Forty years! Impossible!! Seems like only a couple of years ago we ahd our 30th. I've been married to wife, Judy, for 33 years. We have four children and now we have 2 grandchildren, a girl and a boy, whom we just adore and love to spoil. I've been e
ployed at the Postville School as a custodian for 28 years.
Judy has her own business of painting and papering. We also have a perennial flower business in the spring and sell at farmers' markets. We are hoping to start a bed and breakfast for peopl who want to learn about flowers and gardening. We hope to start it in the spring of l999. We plan on coming to the reunion. Since most of my family live in or near Estherville, we plan to make the most of it

Dear Classmates
Reunion time nears and I thought I would add an update to the guestbook.
I am still working at ILCC, going on 19 years.
My husband Dave is still working as Community Development Director with the City of Estherville. In his spare time he serves as Fire Chief.
Our son Kirk is flying a helicopter for a large contractor in Virginia. He also still flys for the Tennessee National Guard. We only see him about twice a year.
Our daughter Kolette and her Husband Tony live in West Des Moines. They have a daughter Jocelyn who is 6 years old, and blessed us with a grandson, Ashton, just before Christmas. Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend. Linda Hansen Knox

I have lived in Oveerland Park,KS., a suburb of Kansas City for 3 years. I'm still a 49er fan, however, and would prefer to play golf on a Sunday afternoon than watch the local football team.
Susan and I just got married last March. We honeymooned in Oregon and California. El Nino was nice enouth to go into remission for two weeks so we rented a convertible and drove down the Oregon coast with the top down. We have season tickets to see the Broadway productions when then come to Kansas City and o ten visit Susan's parents at their summer house on the Lake of the Ozarks on summer weekends. Susan is the Senior Occupational Therapist at a local hospital and I work for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Training Center at Johnson Co. Community College in Overland Park. I train both our employees and College students who are interested in looking for a railroad career. This is the 12th different job I have had with the same company over the last 35 years in seven different cities in four differ nt states. This variety has probably preserved my sanity, but I find myself thinking about retirement this fall, especially when the weather is great and I know a lot of retired guys are playing golf. The children live in Portland, Oregon and Camarillo, California and they each have a boy and a girl. My work often takes me to the coast, so I see then every year at the company's expense.
Looking forward to seeing my classmates

I do plan to attend our reunion, think I have only missed one when I was in labor with one of my sons. You have my new address here in Oklahoma since our move in Aug of 97. My phone nubmer is 580-762-2822. I am the CEO of a large retirement village her
, and love it!!!!! I started out as the Dir of Nursing and was asked to take the administrator position a month later. I have long days and much stress but it is a great place to work!
I have had a hard time with this move since I still have two sons a baby granddaughter(my only one) and many friends back in IL. I make that 12 hour drive more than anyone can imagine. My daughter moved out after us to Wichita so she's only a hour away, and my oldest son is teaching at Emory U in Atlanta but trying o find a teaching position in the midwest or Okla. He's looking into Iowa State. I don't get back more than every 3 months to see Dad & Mom--also an 11 hr drive. I am concerned about them of course, esp since Mom has deteriorated so much. I will be ha py with any and all activities planned. Best Wishes

Rachel and Paul have two daughters: Audrey Garner - a School Teacher, and Lisa Chandler - Surgical Nurse (presently a travel nurse - on three month assignment around the country). Their daughter Audrey has a son, born October 30, 1998.
Paul is Business Manager for the Housing Departmen at the University of Georgia. If you're are ever in the South, the welcome mat is always out! Stop by to see us. I am in the process of getting a new e-mail address- will send it to you when I have it.
I hope you all will have a great time at the reunio . For those of us who can't be there, we have great memories!!!

This is my first reunion. Hope I recognize everyone. So where have I been for 40 years? Well, let me fill you in.
In 1957 I married Paul Clemenson from Graettinger. We lived in Estherville until July of that year when Paul enlisted in the Army. In December of 1957 we moved to Ft. Eustis, Virginia where Paul was a helicopter mechanic in the Army. Late in 1958 found us in Columbus, Georgia where Paul was stationed at Ft. Benning.
1960-1971 we farmed in the Graettinger and Spirit Lake area, where I was a machinery operator and right hand woman. In 1972 we moved to Canada where we purchased a section of farm land for less than what a 1/4 section would have cost us in Ia. We raised barley, oats, and canol. At this time we had 6 of 7 children. A so was born in 1976 and is our only Canadian In 1993 my husband died from cancer. We had been married 36 years.
Presently I still live on the farm and rent out the land. I work 3 days a week for Home Health. Just recently I graduated from a Vocatio al college course concerning my work. I have 14 grandchildren and I'm expectin my first GREAT grandchild in November. I look forward to seeing you

Happy reunion to the class of 1959. Sorry to miss it but will try for the 50th.
Barnaby and I are happily settling into Mystic, CT after 30 years in New York. I took early retirement from Reader's Digest in 1996 and Barnaby sold his importing company and we set off to sail around the world in our 43 foot sailboat. Mom met us in Ca etown last Christmas to join us on a elephant-back safari. We returned recently and found that we had won The Round The World Rally 1997-1998. Since then we have been lecturing at yacht clubs and preparing to go back to the South Pacific for a longer period.
My best regards to all and I look forward to news of the reunion.

What a Blast-From-The-Past to read about all of the grandparents...some even retired...from the Class of '59. As you know...painfully for some... that was my first year of teaching...the year our first son Paul was born...the year Arvil Parks announced o
er the intercom that "...your alligator has arrived." (One of the biology classes chipped in to order one for that big aquarium in the back of the biology room.
I've got a lot more news...about Bill Blagen, Dave Baker, Gail Nicewanger, etc. We hope to drive an antique Buick to the reunion, and we hope to see Harvey and Marian Lundy, among others. Jim, don't panic about the registration...I'll get it in one o e these days.
We retired from Iowa State 2-yrs. ago and have done nothing ever since. But the trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you're finished.
