The following are USS Vigilant crewmembers and important characters in the Star Trek: Ascension story.
Daniel Edwards
Rank: Captain
Position: Commanding officer of the USS Vigilant
Race: Human
Edwards likes to be in control but finds it necessary to slacken the reins now and then when his crew get into trouble. He's a risk taker and isn't afraid to stand up to anyone, not even his superiors. Both his past and future are mysterious.
Gr'Vorn
Rank: Lieutenant commander
Position: Chief engineer
Race: Rilkan
Some people think that Gr'Vorn is a less evolved life form than most other humanoids- this is not true, he has more experience with the inner workings of a starship than anyone else aboard. He is in fact perfectly evolved for crawling around jeffreys tubes and swinging from plasma vents.
When he's not tinkering with his beloved engines or arguing with Doctor Quinn, you'll find him in the bar drinking (real) whiskey. Like most apes.
Kate Bross
Rank: Commander
Position: First officer of the USS Vigilant
Race: Half human/ Half Vulcan
Kate is kind, strong willed and unpredictable. She likes to know her fellow crewmates and is friends with just about everyone on the ship. She has known Captain Edwards since her childhood and is still his best friend. Her Vulcan side gives her inteligence and good judgement, but it doesn't affect her ability to express emotions.
Emily Edwards
Rank: Ensign
Position: Communication officer
Race: Human
Emily is the neice of Captain Daniel Edwards, her father died when she was young and she and Daniel became very close. She was spoilt by her mother and is used to getting her own way. fresh out of the academy, she is now discovering that life as an adult is harder than expected.
Dr. Quinn
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Position: Chief Medical officer
Race: Narran
Doctor Quinn is an exemplery doctor and surgeon, all that she is lacking in is a good bedside mannor. She and chief engineer Gr'Vorn have served together previously, which was unfortunate for both of them as there is a lot of friction between the two which has been around for so long that neither knows how it started.
James Clark
Rank: Commander
Position: XO (Executive officer)
Race: Human
Clark takes a serious and professional approach to his job and doesn't like to get personally involved. Off duty however, he likes to spend his time mainly relaxing in the mess hall with the "Guys."
Chjoc
Rank: Lieutenant
Position: Helm officer
Race: Bolian
Chjoc's physical record is not one of the best in Starfleet, but his skills as a pilot are enough to make up for this. Some say he pilots on "instinct" but most say he just has extremely good luck. Although he is very cautious at times, he is easily pursuaded to do anything- mostly by his best friend H.

Position: Ops officer
Race: Self sustaining hologram of unknown origins
H is an advanced hologram created by an ancient species as part of an expendable army to fight the Borg. Now a Starfleet officer he is an outstanding officer with incredible knowledge and skills.
H lives (or exists) for kicks, his unorthodox ideas have gotten him into trouble on many occasions. He has been good friends with Chjoc ever since they went to the Academy together.
