Singer thrills Palace crowd, CMT cameras

Patricia Conroy kept the crowd a-rockin' last night at the second CMT Command Performance.

The petite singer burst onto The Palace stage with her hit Keep Me Rockin'.

Conroy was so full of energy that it only took her seconds to win over the crowd.

Her years onstage have also taught her just where to punctuate a song with a little wiggle or a hand gesture.

The taping of the six-song set went remarkably smoothly and if it weren't for the cameras on tracks, on cranes and hand-held, a fan could easily think they were at a regular concert.

Last night's show, which was presented by the Sun, will air on CMT sometime in the fall.

Conroy's best moment came in the final tune -- the contagious and perfectly quirky Mary on the Dashboard.

That said, some men may argue that the second version -- which allows CMT to tape new angles -- of Keep Me Rockin' was the hottest part of the show.

During Take 2, Conroy opened her beautiful, grey, sparkling jacket and flashed her black camisole at the crowd.

"I hope my mom doesn't see that one," Conroy joked.

Though there were people in the crowd making sure the fans were enthusiastic, they weren't really needed.

Conroy knew how to pump up a crowd all on her own.

Tonight's command performance features Calgary native Paul Brandt.

Admission is by invitation only but, if there's room, fans at the door at 6 p.m. may be allowed in.
