Our first stop: Zion National Park. It's a steep red rock canyon with a river -- a little like the Grand Canyon, except that you start out at the bottom.
Looking up the canyon.
We hiked up the river trail.
This squirrel wasn't shy. I think he wanted a snack!
We saw wildlife everywhere at Zion, and the animals weren't scared of us at all. Here's a buck, up close and personal.
The view from the top of the river trail, looking back down the canyon.
Inside Hidden Canyon.
The trail was a bit challenging at spots. There were chains pinned into the wall as a railing.
The view from the Hidden Canyon trail with breathtaking.
More deer.
The river valley.
Angel's Landing.
This is Checkerboard Mesa. If you look at the closeup, you can see the "checkerboard" marks.
Next stop: Monument Valley
