Home Economics Class, circa 1935 near Wichita, Kansas

I learned to sew 30 years ago to earn a Girl Scout badge.  Ten moves later, I still have that first pattern and now teach quilting at the local quilt shop.  However, I am most fascinated by the inner workings of sewing machines and spend much time searching for and refurbishing older ones.  I especially enjoy detailing featherweights.

I am often asked  "what is a hedge tree?"   To me, it is the tree which personifies the spirit of a Kansas pioneer woman.
