ADDITIONAL SOLAR INFORMATION

This picture shows the construction of the back wall of the fire place which absorbs the heat from the sun.
This wall is six feet from a one-and-a-half story window which faces south.

On the picture below you can see the construction of the oversize eaves on the south side of the house.
This design allows for less direct sunlight into the house in the summer months when the sun is higher in the sky.
In the winter months the sun heats a large portion of the back wall of the fire place which radiates heat in the evenings.

This house is totally electric with a corn/wood burnner for additional heating which is only used when
the temperature drops bellow 20 degrees. The corn burnner is located in the basement of the house.
In the summer the blower from the burnner can be used to blow cooler air from the basement
into the central living room helping to cool the second floor.
