Tonya Skinner’s Business Education Lesson Plans
and Resources
http://lessonplans.btskinner.com/
This is a great resource to find activities and
new ideas for a business class. The site has links to hundreds of
other sites that give you lessons for activities such as Accounting, Typing,
Computer Concepts, and Desktop Publishing. I like how the site has
a lot of different links, but I would like a more descriptive explanation
of what the site has to offer. I can see myself using this site as
a last resort, but I think I could have much of the same results coming
from searching a site such as www.yahoo.com or www.google.com .

TeacherVision.com
http://www.teachervision.fen.com/index.html
AWESOME for EVERYONE!! This site allows
you to search through almost any topic that teachers come up with.
You can narrow the search to find specific topics. You can get classroom
management tips and teacher tools. This site says it “is created
by teachers for teachers” and it is right on the money. A first year
teacher could find this site to a very valuable tool. One other item
that I feel is a great asset is that is has cross curricular lesson plans
which could be a great FCAT help. This is a definite must in any
teachers bookmark list.

WebQuests
http://webquest.org/matrix3.php
This site is simple and straight forward.
It is a matrix that you can choose your subject area and the grade level
to find lesson plans. There are some really great and well thought
out plans that are included in this matrix, but there are not thousands
to search through. One that particually interested me was a group
project that required the students to create a flyer for a business that
wasn’t doing so well in the community. Using this site in the classroom
would be easy would be very simple.

Business Education Publishing
http://www.teachbused.com
This a site for purchasing project software, lesson plans, and materials
for a business classroom. Each item that is for sale has a very detailed
explaination of the project and what the item has included with it.
I was hoping that this would have had reviews of the items they have for
sale. This site is great for those that are purchasing projects,
and can also give teachers fresh ideas to create their own version of the
project without purchasing. I would use this site to get ideas, and
to check out potential projects that our school could purhcase.

Monster
http://content.monster.com/
The monster website is a career resourse center that pairs users with potential
employers. The site has many great resources from building a resume,
finding a job, and researching careers. I think this would be an
excellent site for students to use to research a potential career, the
salaries, and education need for a particualar career. The interview
center is also a great way for students to practice interview questions.
There is also a self-assesment center that can guide you to a potential
career. This site would be great to have students research careers.
I would use this in two ways, one in the students spare time so they can
start thinking about their future, and the other to get kids to write goals
for themselves and how they will achieve them.

4Teachers
http://4teachers.org/
This is well thought-out site. One of the great things that I like
about it is that it has lessons divided in multiple ways. For example
if you are looking for a lesson that will help a student with a disability,
you can use the equity index to help search for something. One other
great thing about this site is that it has many free online tools such
as QuizStar, which is an online test. I would like to use this site
to help aid my instruction in a classroom that has computers for all of
the students.

Sucesslink.org
http://www.scsite.com/tdc2/default.cfm?chap=6&module=integrate
Need a great lesson for excel? Well this lesson will give students
the option to choose a dream car, and research it online to find out the
cost. This great project incorporates math, research and excel.
All of the projects will be different depending on the options each person
chooses. This would be a great independent exercise o wrap up a excel
unit.

US Department of Labor web site
http://www.bls.gov/home.htm
US Department of Labor web site - this site has a weath of information
about wages, occupations, dempgraphics, statics, and much more. This
is a great site for students to collect information about their desired
career. I will use this link for students to research a career and
report their findings. However, the I think the layout of the site
isn't well layed out.

US Department of Labor web site for Students
http://www.bls.gov/k12/index.htm
This is a link from the US Department of Labor web site. It is
desgined for students in high school I think it is a great site,
but has limited career choices. Each career that it does go in to,
it answers these important questions.
What is this job like?
How do you get ready?
How much does this job pay?
How many jobs are there?
What about the future?
Are there other jobs like this?
Where can you find more information?
I think this site would be great for career exploration.

Florida's Job Bank
http://www.ajb.org/fl
I think this site would be great for kids to explore before they leave
high school. It gives them a resource to help them find a job.
It doesn' give much insite in to the careers, but it lets the students
practice searching for a job. However it does provide the following
link that has information about careers.

America's CareerInfoNet - LOVE IT.
For the Final project I am going to create this is the perfect site.
I gives students all of the info they would need to complete their project.
I think this is a winner. I give the students so much more
information plus it gives links to related careers and career profiles.
The downfall of this site is that although it gives you the info, on some
careers the infomation is not available. But I think this is a great
stating point for career research.
