WASHBURN HONOR STUDENTS--Miss Lois Learnard, left, and Miss Maxine Farley, right, have been named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the senior class at Washburn High school.
Miss Learnard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Learnard of Washburn. During her high school course she has held many important offices, as general manager of the magazine campaign; editor-in-chief of The Northland; manager of senior play; and treasurer of class; elected to student council; national honor society; vice president; and was a member of Journalism, Art, Glee clubs. Also for three years she has been one of the efficient office girls.
Miss Farley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Farley of Washburn has also been active in the many clubs of the school: journalism, Northland board, art; business manager of the senior play, school librarian.
Miss Flewelling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Flewelling of Crouseville, has been president of the National Honor society, associate editor of The Northland, president of Student Council, class secretary and treasurer, prompter of senior play and office girl. Miss Woodman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Woodman, Miss Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith, and Miss Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Thompson, all are enrolled as students of the home economic course. In their senior year all were elected to the National Honor society. Office girl during her junior and senior years Miss Woodman plans to attend Katherine Gibbs next year. Miss: Smith has been one of the librarians for the past three years. Miss Thompson came to Washburn from Presque Isle high school at the beginning of her sophomore year. She has been very active in all phases of school life, especially prominent in public speaking.
