Washburn Pilot Missing In Korea
WASHBURN, April 8 [1951] -- A 22-year-old Washburn Air Force pilot is reported missing in
action in Korea, his parents were informed here today by the Air Force.
Second Lt. John Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laurel W. Thompson, a jet fighter pilot in
Korea, was reported missing late last week, according to information received here.
He had been stationed in Korea only the past month, spending a brief leave here before going
overseas.
He received training at the Lackland Air Base in Texas, and received his commission at a jet air
field in Arizona.
His wife, Mrs. Joanne Crouse Thompson, is now here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abram
Crouse.
Thompson also has three sisters, Mrs. T. R. York, Jr., of Mars Hill, Miss Lauretta Thompson, a
Colby college sophomore, and Ann, at home.
