Church Honors Pastor And Wife

WASHBURN, Oct. 5 [1951] -- A farewell service was held recently at the Washburn Pentecostal church in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Bailey, who left later for the west coast en route to Japan, where they will be missionaries. Songs were sung by the attending audience of about 150, after which the pastor, Rev. Renhard Sand, read the Bailey's favorite scripture. Mrs. Eileen Sperrey sang and Mr. and Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Edward Skane, sister of Mrs. Bailey sang.

Testimonies of encouragement and commendation were offered by friends, church officers and visiting preachers. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey thanked the people for the gift of money that was presented to them and spoke of the need of the Japanese people and told of their call to that land. Refreshments were served by the women of the church in the church dining hall following the service.

Mrs. Bailey is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Churchill of Washburn. She was graduated from Washburn High School where she was active in school affairs, with high honors. After high school, she attended Zion Bible Institute in East Providence, R. I., where she was active in outside ministry and acted as a chapel pianist.

Mr. Bailey attended Lincoln schools and was graduated from Zion Bible Institute. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bailey of Lincoln.

They will be supported by the Washburn Pentecostal church with all other financial aid going through that channel.

Their only child, 14-months-old Brent, has gone to Japan with them. 1
