GOLDEN WEDDING -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tower, above, of Washburn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday at an open house at their home.
The home was decorated with bouquets of cut flowers including chrysanthemums, yellow gladioli and roses.
Arrangements for the open house were made by their three daughters, Mrs. Lovica, Shepherd, Fiskdale, Mass.; Mrs. Helen Haines, Washburn and Mrs. Wilma Field, Old Town.
The guest book was circulated by Pamela Haynes, a granddaughter, and Mrs. Edward Shepherd and Mrs. Frank Pearce of Bangor were in charge of gifts. Mrs. Carroll Taylor served the wedding cake which was made by Mrs. Quentin Jardine of Washburn. Mrs. Norris Umphrey and Mrs. Clarence Haynes were in charge of serving, assisted by Norene and Carolyn Umphrey and Claudia Haynes.
Mr. and Mrs. Tower were married in Andover, N. B., on January 15, 1905 by the Rev. Mr. Alden. They have three daughters. Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. Haynes and Mrs. Field and four sons, Bert Tower of Webster, Mass.; Corp. Frank Tower of Fort Monmouth, N. J.; Donald Tower and James Tower of Washburn; also six grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Tower attend the Christian Advent Church in Washburn.
Mr. and Mrs. Tower received many cards, flowers, money and numerous other gifts from their friends.
Mr. Tower was born in Washburn where he has operated a farm until his retirement in 1950.
Mrs. Tower, who received her guests wearing a navy blue crepe dress, with neckline outlined in pearls, and corsage of yellow roses, was the former Miss Mae Newcombe of New Brunswick, Canada.
