Washburn Vacation School Ends

WASHBURN, July 30 [1957] -- More than 100 children attended the two-week Daily Vacation Bible School conducted at the Pentecostal church by Mrs. Lois Burden.

Activities were high lighted by a street parade wherein Christian placards were carried by the groups.

The program included memory work taken from Bible stories told the beginner children. The primary group centered their work around the Ten Commandments The junior group learned the

Beatitudes and the Intermediate group quoted scripture verses.

Workers in the beginners group were Mrs. Peggy Young, Mrs. Lila Martin, Mrs. Carolyn Nickerson, in the primary group, Mrs. Phyllis Allen, Mrs. Roberta Doak, Mrs. Verna Dickinson: in the junior group were Miss Edna May Jordan, Mrs. Kay Adams, Mrs. Louise Richards, and; in the intermediate group Mrs. Lona Parker and Mrs. Margaret Harris. Mrs. Margaret Harris was pianist. Mrs. Gloria Wilcox assisted with the handwork.

Awards were given in the beginners to Anita Sperry, outstanding girl, memory verses and songs, Patsy Campbell all around boy Billy Campbell books of the Old Testament, Joy Parker handwork, Rhonda Maynard. in the primary group all around student Linda Drost; memory work, Robert Wilcox: handwork, Natalia Howe and Billy Jordan; in the junior group sword drill; Penny Burden; handwork, Wayne Farley and Laila Philbrook; memory work; Stephen Barnes for, bringing the most children to Bible school, Loren Sperry and Sterling Levesque; in the intermediate group, all around student, Marilyn Grant; handwork, Harold Marr and Myrna Farley; sword drill Linda Allen. 1
