Three-Year-Old Washburn Girl Dies In Brook

WASHBURN, May 1 [1958] -- Margo Mildred Griffin three-year-old daughter of Stacy and Mildred Griffin, drowned Thursday afternoon when she fell into West brook near her home.

Chief of Police Wilmont Churchill said the child's body was recovered by her father and a neighbor, Bert Conley, 100 feet downstream.

The little girl had been playing by herself when she was reported missing by her mother about 3 o'clock. She was found at 4 o'clock.

The Griffins have two other children, Diane 8, and Arthur 2.


FUNERAL SERVICES

WASHBURN, May 2 - Funeral services for Margo Mildred Griffin, three, who drowned Thursday in a brook near her home, will be held at the Washburn Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. George Budd of Caribou will officiate.

She was born at Worcester, Mass., August 19, 1954, the daughter of Stacey and Mabel (Messier) Griffin, and had lived at Washburn the past two and a half years.

Besides her parents she is survived by a brother, Arthur; one sister, Diane: her Paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffin, all of Washburn; and several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at the residence Saturday morning.

Burial will be in Riverside Extension Cemetery. 1
