High School Seniors Of Washburn Feted At Perham Banquet

PERHAM, June 24 [1958] -- A banquet honoring the seniors of Washburn High school was held late last week in the vestry of the Perham Baptist church.

The banquet was sponsored by the ministers of the churches in the Washburn area, and were served by a committee of eight women from the Perham Missionary Society.

The Rev. Robert Brackley, pastor of the host church, was in charge of arrangements and served as master of ceremonies.

The Rev. John Goodhare of the Hodgdon Baptist church was the guest speaker.

Attending were 32 members of the senior class, their class advisor, Mrs. Leila Bull, high school principal Clifford Burkett and Mrs. Burkett, the Rev. Reed Blackstone, the Rev. Vernon Cardiff, the Rev. Joseph Hodges, the Rev. J. Wesley Stuart, the Rev. Edgar Hickel and Ronald Dow of Perham, an instructor at Stearns High school, Millinocket who sang a solo and also a duet with Mrs. Brackley.

Serving on a banquet committee were Emma Dow, Elvie Bubar, Phyllis Blackstone, Vespa Johnson, Glenna Blackstone, Lily Harris and Milly Blackstone. 1
