Wayne Churchill Honor Graduate In Ft. Sill Class

Specialist 5th Class Wayne E. Churchill, a native of Washburn and a member of Battery A, 1st AW Bn (SP) 152nd Arty. of the Maine Army National Guard, recently returned from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he attended the Artillery Track Vehicle Maintenance Course.

This is a highly technical course on the type of vehicle now in operation at Battery A. The vehicle is a full track design and mounts twin 40MM antiaircraft guns.

Specialist Churchill was selected as the honor graduate from a class of 64 members. He received an academic average of 97%. Letters of commendations were awarded this guardsman by the director of the school, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and from General McGowan, acting chief of the National Guard Bureau. At the state level he was awarded a commendation from General E. W. Heywood, the Adjutant General for the State of Maine.

Specialist Churchill is assigned as a senior track vehicle mechanic for Battery A.
