More than 125 Masons and guests from surrounding towns and neighboring New Brunswick were present to honor Holts, who was elected in May Senior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Maine, A.F, and A.M.
Of those present was Aubrey L. Burbank, Skowhegan, past grand master of the Grand Lodge of Maine, who said, "we today are citizens of the world. Malcolm Holts is a fine example of a freedom-loving Christian-living citizen."
Percy G. Cotton, Houlton, right worshipful canon, gave the invocation. Past master Russell Smith, Mapleton, served as toastmaster.
The welcome was given by worshipful master, Jack Buck of Mapleton. Music was furnished by grand organist Fred Davis, Millinocket.
James Ross, Mapleton, sang a solo and a telegram of congratulations was read from Congressman Clifford G. McIntire. The Libby sisters of Mapleton presented several musical selections.
A gift of a leather jewelry box was presented Holts by Clarence Brinkman of the Limestone
Lodge. A Grand Lodge apron was presented by Walter Morrison from the Washburn Lodge.
Guests making brief remarks included: John Littlefield, Auburn, grand master of the Grand Lodge of the state of Maine; Donald Canders; Fort Kent, district deputy; Wallace Campbell, Fort Fairfield, steward of Grand Lodge of Maine: Lean Sanborn, Gorham, district master; Philip Tingley, Houlton, past senior Warden Clifford Perry, Millinocket, past junior warden: Donald.Baird, past district deputy of the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick: John Anderson, Stockton Springs, grand stewaid, and Russell Bradbury, Madison, district deputy master.
Refreshments were served by the Eastern Star of Washburn.
