Soldier Gets Months Honor In Germany

WASHBURN - SP-4 Robert A. Bell of Washburn has been named Soldier of the Month for April [1962] in the 10th Ordinance Company at Giessen, Germany. Bell participated in a Battalion Contest with 1200 soldiers in Hanau, Germany, and placed second.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bell Jr. of Washburn and is married to the former Caroline Umphrey of Washburn. They have one child, Gail Marie. His wife and child are in Germany with him.

Bell, a graduate of Washburn High School, has been with the United States Army for three years, completing his basic training at Fort Dix, N. J., and graduating from the Fuel and Electrical System Repair Course Ordinance School Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md. He has been stationed in Germany for two years and plans to return to the States in July. 1
