Pentecostal Church Plans Homecoming Convention

WASHBURN -- The Washburn Pentecostal Church, Mother Church of Pentecost in northern Maine, will hold the first home-coming convention in its 47-year-history, June 15-24 [1962], for former pastors, laymen and friends who have gone out from the church over the years.

There will be two services daily during the homecoming convention, at 2:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. On Sundays of June 17 and 24 there will be three services, 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Rooms and meals will be provided for guests by the host church.

A welcome to the event has been extended to the public.

Highlights Listed

Convention highlights will include a missionary day, under the direction of the Rev. William Wilson, Patterson, N. J. Returned missionaries will be attending, as well as Miss Doretta Elliott,

just arrived in the United States from India. She will represent her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Leon Elliott, who have spent many years in India.

There will be a Divine Healing service, with prayers for the sick and needy.

Speakers will be pastors and evangelists who have ministered in the church in the past, except on Sunday evening, June 17. At that time speakers will be the Rev. and Mrs. C. G. Enticknap of Australia. The Rev. Mr. Enticknap has preached in 18 countries and on all continents and has been pastor of one of the largest churches in Australia.

Now on a two-year tour of the world, the Rev. Mr. Enlicknap recently arrived in this country from Europe.

At High School Gym

Closing services of the homecoming convention, the afternoon and evening of June 24, in the gymnasium of Washburn high school.

Washburn Pentecostal Church has long been active at home overseas in the mission field, last year having given more to foreign missions than any other Pentecostal Church in Maine. The church supports missionaries in Africa, India. Japan and Alaska and contributes to the support of missionaries in South America.

Other activities of the church include a progressive Sunday School, one of the largest in Maine, a home for the aged, the Magoon Memorial Faith Home for elderly Christians, and weekly radio program from Presque Isle, on Sundays, featuring church talent.

Pastors are the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Skane.
