Staff Sergeant, Wayne Churchill of Washburn is the Motor Sergeant in A Battery. He is the son of Mr, and Mrs. Wilmont Churchill of Washburn. He attended the Washburn school system graduating in June of 1956, and is employed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Presque Isle as a mechanic. Sgt. Churchill is married, has two children, and makes his home at 2 North St., Washburn.

Sgt. Churchill enlisted in A Battery in January of 1956 while still a senior in high school. His first assignment in the battery was in the motor section as a driver. He was promoted to PFC in November of 1956. In June of 1958 he was promoted to Specialist 3d Class and was made a mechanic.

In March of 1959 he attended the Artillery Vehicle Maintenance Course at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Upon his return to the unit he was promoted to Specialist 5th Class and was made the track vehicle mechanic.

He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and was made the Motor Sergeant in January 1956. In this position he is responsible for the training of the maintenance section, maintenance and dispatching of the vehicles. and the forms and records of the vehicles of the battery.
