Washburn Youth Receives Award

Dennis Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene L. Young, of 9 Church St., Washburn, has been awarded the Grand Scholarship at Central Bible Institute and Seminary in Springfield, Mo. where he will be a senior in the fall.

Young is a gradunte of Washburn High School, where he edited the school newspaper and the school yearbook. He was also a member of the French Club, Dramatics Club, the National Honor Society, and the band, in addition to serving as school pianist. During his three years at Central Bible Institute he has served as organist for Revivaltime, ABU radio broadcast of the Assemiblies of God, literary editor of the college yearbook, and president of the Archaeology Club. Young has also been chosen to serve as editor-in-chief of the 1964 college yearbook.

The $350 scholarship was awarded to Young on the basis of his scholastic status, capability of bearing responsilbility, citizenship, evidence of practical aptness, and participation in college and ministerial activities.

Cental Bible Institute, located in Springfield. Mo., headquarters city of the Assemblies of God, is a four-year college training ministers, missionaries, music and educational director's, and other Chrirtian workers. Enrollment for the past semester was 479. 1
