WASHBURN -- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Griffin were feted at an open house Sunday after noon and evening at their home on their 50th wedding anniversary.
Many relatives, friends, and neighbors called at the residence. Refreshments were served by the W.S.C.S. of the Memorial Methodist church. Mrs. Gerald Jameson and Mrs. William Campbell, sister's of Mrs. Griffin poured.
The program during the afternoon was Harry Duncan rendering several selections. During the evening the Rev. Robert Carter the Rev. and Mrs. Clark Cole, and Elmer Thompkins joined as a mixed quartet and sang several selections.
Mr. and Mrs. Griffin were presented gifts and a money tree by the neighbors and friends. The Griffins have eight children, Mrs. Alton Deane of Fort Fairfield, Stacy Griffin and Dana Griffin of Washburn, Mrs. Philip Farsberg of Salem. Mass.; Thomas E. Griffin of Mars Hill, Richard Griffin of Bradenton, Fla., Mrs. Alec Sirum and Paul Griffin of Greenfield, Mass. . They have 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Griffin have resided in Washburn since their marriage.
