EMGH School Of Training Awards Diplomas To 23

The Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing held commencement exercises Thursday evening at Garland Street Junior High School for a graduating class of 23. Robert N. Haskell, president of the board of trustees, presided.

Award winners in the class were: Sharon Snyder who received the Women's Auxiliary Award for General Proficiency in Nursing Practice; and Joleen Ward who received the Auxiliary Award for Highest Rank in Theory. These awards were presented by the Auxiliary president.

The Eastern Maine General Hospital Alumnae Achievement Award, presented by the Alumnae president, was received by Myra Champagne. Mildred MacFarland was recipient of the Augusta State Hospital Award for Outstanding Achievement in Psychiatric Nursing.

Mrs. Louise Miller, special assistant to the president, Husson College, gave the graduation address.

Invocation and benediction were given by the Rev. Carl A. Bergquist. Mr. Haskel presented the diplomas to the graduates.

A reception was held at the Nurses' Residence following the commencement exercises. 1
