Honor Parts Are Announced For Washburn High School

WASHBURN - Carleton Barnes, Principal of Washburn High School has announced the following honor parts for seniors in the 1965 graduating class:

Cynthia Hallowell

Miss Cynthia Hallowell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hallowell in Perham, has been named salutatorian.

Miss Hallowell received the Olivetti Underwood Merit Award as an outstanding business education student in her junior year. She is editor in chief of the Northland and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was a delegate to Dirigo Girls' State and is a member of the Student Council. She is Glee Club Pianist and a member of the Senior play cast and plans to enter Washington State Teachers College in the fall and major in business education.

Denny Clark

Denny Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Clark of Crouseville, has been named valedictorian. Clark has been the recipient of many scholastic honors and prizes. He was a participant in a nine week training program at the Jackson Memorial Laboratory, Bar Harbor; and a winner in the Regional and State Science Congress. He was selected as one of the two best science students in the state to re- present Maine at the Aviation Educational Tour for Youth in New York. He is a member of the Northern New England Senior Academy of Science and a commended student by the National Merit Corporation. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was a delegate to Dirigo Boys' State in his junior year. He has been active in band, Glee Club, cross country, science club, and is a member of the Senior Play cast. He plans to enter Aurora College, Aurora, Ill., next fall to prepare for a career in medicine.

Russell Gregg

Russell Gregg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Haldore Gregg of Washburn, has been names third honor essayist. Gregg has been active in Hi Y, French Club, Science Club, Glee Club and is a member of the Senior Play cast. He plans to enter Aroostook State Teachers College in the fall.

Other honor students are as follows: Stephen Southard, Marvin McBreiarity, Claude Charette, Carl Charkette, Linda Ward, and Suzanne Foster. 1
