SILVER JUBILEE - The Rev. and Mrs. Clifford A. Crabtree were honored Sunday night by the members of the Pentecostal Assembly on the completion of their 25 years as pastors of the church.
The Rev. and Mrs. Clifford A. Crabtree were honored in ceremonies at the Pentecostal Assembly of Bangor, Sunday afternoon on the occasion of their 25th Anniversary as pastors of the church. Guest speaker was a son, Charles, pastor of The First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mr. Crabtree came to the City Of Bangor in 1940 and since that time has seen a consistent growth in the Assembly. The church was located in a third floor hall at 40 Central Street, with an average attendance in Sunday School of approximately 30. In 1942, the church moved to 189 Exchange Street where services were conducted until 1947 when the congregation moved to its present location at 117 Court Street.
Because of the continued growth, a new auditorium had to be erected and a two story educational complex was added a few years later. In 1963, during a windstorm, the auditorium collapsed, necessitating the building of the present auditorium which will accommodate approximately 600 people.
A parsonage has been built adjacent to the auditorium. During the ceremonies, telegrams of congratulations were read. Charter members of the church were recognized, and several testimonials were given.
