W.O. EARNEST W. CHURCHILL

VUNG TAU, VIETNAM - Army Chief Warrent Officer Earnest W. Churchill doesn't fire a weapon in Vietnam too often, but his job of maintaining combat equipment plays an important part in battle.

WO Churchill, whose wife, Evelyn, lives at 9 Delmont St., Presque Isle, is a supply platoon leader in Headquarters and Maine Support Company, 2nd Maintenance Battalion, part of the 1st Logistical Command's Vung Tau Sub-Area Command.

He and his unit have been providing maintenance support for the 1st Infantry Division, the 173rd Airborne Brigade and the Austrailian Army's 1st Task Force. They are now fighting the Viet Cong near Baria.

WO Churchill entered the Army in December 1945 and was stationed at Ft. Dix, N. J., before arriving in Vietnam in June of this year.

He is a 1944 graduate of Washburn High School. 1
