Teacher At Washburn Gets Ford Grant

BOONVILLE, N.Y. -- Sheldon C. Richardson, a teacher in the Washburn school system for the past three years, has been awarded a grant for a year of educational experiences by the fund for the advancement of education established by the Ford Foundation.

The project is the first of its kind in that teachers and administrators from rural areas are given an opportunity to meet and retain contacts with the foremost leaders in education in the United States. Richardson receives full salary and all travel and tuition expenses are paid by the fund for the advancement of education.

Mr. Richardson is a native of Washburn, and a graduate of Washburn High School. He received his B.S. degree from Aroostook State College in 1964 and is married to the former Penny Humphrey also of Washburn. They have two children. During the award year, they will make their home in Boonville. Richardson will return to Maine in the spring and will resume his teaching duties in the fall of 1968.
