Perham Couple Feted On Golden Anniversary

Perham - Friends and relatives gathered at the First Baptist Church vestry Thursday evening to celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Hartson A. Blackstone.

Mr. and Mrs. Blackstone were married June 18, 1919 at South Portland by the Rev. Henry Clark. On July 14th they moved to their farm on the Nutting Road in Perham where they still reside.

They are the parents of five children; Philip of Atwater, Calif., Richard of East Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Hartley (Ruth) James of Washburn, Hartson, Jr. of Woodland and Mrs. Alfred (Mary) Black of Rockville, Conn. They have 16 grandchildren.

The following program was presented: Group singing "Blessed Assurance", Bible reading and Prayer - Rev. Relland Clark, Duet - Hartson Blackstone, Jr. and Mrs. Alfred Black, Solo - Mrs. Larry Wilcox, Reading - Mrs. Charles McIntire, Duet - Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Blackstone, Remarks and closing prayer - Rev. Read Blackstone.

After cutting the wedding cake refreshments were served to 150 guests, members of the First Baptist Church of Perham.

Out of town guests were Philip Blackstone of Atwater, Calif., Richard Blackstone and daughter Pamela of East Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Alfred Black and Karla-Jean of Rockville, Conn., Mr. and Mrs. Paul Todd of Laurel, Md., Monie Tarr, Rantoul, Ill., and friends from New Sweden, Washburn, Caribou, Presque Isle, Blaine, Woodland and Mapleton.
