The dinner was sponsored by the Alumni Association with President Sheldon Richardson presiding.
A musical program consisting of vocal solos by Waldron Babbage, accompanied by Miss Molly McBreairty and several selections by the Jerico Trumpeters, was presented.
A short business meeting of the Alumni Association was held, and awards were made. Richard Raymond was presented the Alumni Award and Clayton Blackstonw was given the Citizenship Award.
Basil Fox was introduced as master of ceremonies for the testimonial to Cunningham, and presented guest speakers Archie Silver. Superintendent William C. Foster, and Otis Russell.
Malcolm Holts presented Cunningham with the Washburn Rotary Club outstanding citizenship award.
Willis Laskey, chairman of the board of directors of the School Administrative District 45, dedicated the present agricultural classroom and workshop to Mr. Cunningham.
Jeffrey Fox, president of the Washburn Future Farmers of America, presented him with a gift of money from the club, and announced that a scholarship would be started at the Washburn Trust Company, to be named the Everett C. Cunningham Scholarship, and the interest earned will be given each year to a vocational student.
The Alumni Association presented him a gift of $300. A poem, written by his cousin, was read.
Cunningham responded to his testimonial, relating some of the highlights of his teaching career.
Approximately 200 were in attendance.
Cunningham, who is retiring after 46 years service as Vocational Agricultural teacher at Washburn District High School, was presented a plaque and a gift of money by club president, Jeff Wark.
