Laurel W. Thampson was master of ceremanies. Speakers included Dr. Clifford O. T. Wieden, president of Aroostook State College of the University of Maine, Presque Isle; Dr. Kermit Nickerson, Deputy Commissioner of Education of the State of Maine, Augusta; Malcolm R. Holts, Perham; Roland B. Andrews, formet Superintendent of SAD 1, of Presque Isle, Mrs. Shirley Roach, Sheldon Richardson, and Willis B. Laskey, chairman of the board of directors of S.A.D. 45, all of Washburn.
Foster was presented with a color television set by the citizens and his friends, and the former high school building was dedicated to him and will be renamed the William C. Foster School.
Many out of town colleagues and friends attended the banquet.
